All believers—including God Still Can Ministries—are the body of Christ. We are His “hands” to help others and lift up our brethren, His “lips” to spread the Gospel and offer words of encouragement and correction, and His “feet” to walk as Jesus walked on earth.
It falls on us all to pray for one another, but also to do “earthly” things like feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, housing the homeless, laying hands on the sick, and visiting those who have no one.
Key Bible Verses
- Matthew 25:35-40 (NKJV): “For I was hungry and you gave me food; I was thirsty and you gave me drink; I was a stranger and you took me in; naked and you clothed me; I was sick and you visited me; I was in prison and you came to me…”
- Matthew 25:40 (NKJV): “And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to me.’”
- Ezekiel 18:7 (ESV): “…does not oppress anyone, but restores to the debtor his pledge, commits no robbery, but gives his bread to the hungry and covers the naked with clothing…”
- Luke 3:11 (ESV): “And he answered them, ‘Whoever has two tunics is to share with him who has none, and whoever has food is to do likewise.’”
What is the Word saying to us today?
- The Corporal Works of Mercy: These verses form the basis for the traditional “Corporal Works of Mercy” in Christian theology, which include feeding the hungry, giving drink to the thirsty, clothing the naked, sheltering the homeless, visiting the sick, visiting the imprisoned, and burying the dead.
- Final Judgment: The passage in Matthew 25 is set within a teaching about the final judgment, emphasizing that actions of mercy toward the needy reflect a true faith.
God Still Can Ministry of Helps provides help for all those that need it – including needed resources, along with prayer.
